Proposed Bylaws Amendments The three proposed amendments were approved. (1) Modernizing and making consistent language related to Board of Directors meetings: (2) Restructuring the Bylaw language on Committees: (3) Miscellaneous amendments relating to the use of “The Association” and “The Board”: California Library Association Bylaws Article XVIII Section 3, specifies requirements for amending the Bylaws: These Bylaws may be amended at a Membership meeting by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the Voting members present and voting at a Membership meeting; or, through a vote in an election, by two-thirds of the Voting members responding, provided that at least 10% of the Voting members vote online or return their paper ballots. As of January 31, 2025, there were 1,705 voting members; 10% of that number is 171. Between 210 and 218 CLA members cast ballots on the three proposed amendments; two-thirds of those voting is between 141 and 147. Read the adopted Bylaws amendments here.
