The California Library Association (CLA) is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to serve as our Interim Executive Director, with the potential for transition to a permanent role.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a statewide professional association during a pivotal period, supporting CLA’s mission, staff, Board of Directors, conferences, and grant-funded initiatives.

Position Highlights

  • Part-time (approximately 25 hours/week)

  • Six-month appointment with potential for permanent hire

  • Remote position

  • Competitive compensation (up to $100,000 annualized, prorated)

Key Responsibilities
The Interim Executive Director serves as the chief administrative officer of CLA and is responsible for:

  • Day-to-day operations and staff supervision

  • Financial oversight and budget management

  • Board communication and governance support

  • Oversight of conferences and major events

  • Leadership of grant-funded programs and partnerships

We are seeking a collaborative, strategic, and mission-driven leader with experience in nonprofit or association management, financial stewardship, and working with boards and diverse stakeholders.
