The California Library Association (CLA) Board has officially adopted our 2026 Legislative Priorities. These priorities reflect our statewide commitment to strengthening California’s libraries, ensuring equitable access to information, and positioning libraries as essential partners in education, resiliency, and community well-being. We encourage you to use these priorities as talking points when meeting with your local legislators. Every conversation helps reinforce the critical role libraries play across California and underscores the importance of restoring, sustaining, and expanding funding for vital programs. Your advocacy matters. Legislators are more likely to support our shared goals when they hear directly from constituents about the impact libraries have in their communities. Please take the time to schedule a meeting with your legislators in the coming weeks to highlight these priorities and emphasize the urgent need for investment in our libraries. You can find a trove of advocacy resources on CLA’s webpage to get started. Reach out to members of CLA’s Advocacy & Legislation Committee if you need additional support. Together, we can ensure California libraries continue to thrive as centers of learning, equity, and resilience for all. Genesis Hansen, 2025 CLA President
