This webinar will cover the many legal resources available online while discussing how to avoid providing legal advice, with information geared towards those interested in legal research in non-law libraries. Participants will learn strategies for deconstructing legal reference questions and gain a better understanding of when and how to direct patrons to free, authoritative websites. Key factors include identification of types of legal questions; coverage of local, state and federal online resources; top websites for general legal and consumer information; and recognizing when to refer patrons to the local county law library. Participants will gain confidence in their approach to legal research questions and develop a better awareness of the best free legal websites.
