Every one of us will be a patient or caregiver at some point in our lives, and will need trustworthy health information to make decisions about our care. Internet users are taking the search for information into their own hands – to guide a decision, learn more about a prescribed treatment, or self-diagnose a health condition. Come hear how three consumer health librarians are raising the level of health information literacy in their communities. We work (or have worked) at: the Stanford Health Library, a community service of Stanford Health Care, which provides scientifically-based medical information to help people make informed decisions about their health and health care; San Francisco General Hospital Library; and at Bay Area Cancer Connections, which offers information and support to people touched by breast and ovarian cancer. You’ll learn about the free, personalized research service we offer at our libraries, and find out how we can help you help you and your patrons.
