Holding Space: A national conversation series with libraries with ALA President Julius C. Jefferson, Jr. On July 27 2020, ALA President Julius C. Jefferson, Jr. launched Holding Space: A National conversation series with libraries is
the American Library Association’s nationwide virtual tour to highlight
the innovation and impact of a diverse range of libraries and engage
stakeholders to advocate for libraries and the communities they serve. Oakland
Public Library offers an array of programs and services for children
and families that honor the input of all stakeholders, adjust to meet
areas of greatest need, reflect evidence-based practices, and leverage
partnerships to deepen connections within the community. Join Julius for
a series of interviews with members of the extraordinary team that
create and implement these programs, followed by a conversation with and
performances by Oakland Youth Poet Laureate finalists! As
we work to serve Libraries during this time, services for families are
crucial, and we value this chance to highlight the work in California on
a national stage. Information about the tour and links to register for each of the events can be found on the tour website: http://www.ala.org/advocacy/holding-space.
