Engaging Your Audience: Content that Doesn't Suck

The Library Marketing Trifecta is a webinar series offering both high level overviews and concrete tips
and how-to’s for library marketers. Each webinar will be 1 hour in duration and cover a different aspect of library marketing.

This third webinar in the series covers strategies for engaging audiences and content creation.

Together, these webinars cover the basic training needed for any library marketer to gain a real understanding of the purpose of marketing and PR for libraries and how to go about implementing great campaigns.

Webinar Description:
Public libraries strive to offer creative, relevant, and impactful programs and services to meet the unique needs of the diverse communities they serve. Marketing for such focused programs and services should be just as original and specific, specially catered to appeal to a desired audience. The presentation will encourage marketing teams to venture beyond a generic, cookie-cutter approach and be more mindful in making strategic decisions, whether marketing through print or electronic means. Participants will also be urged to look outside of library walls to consider underserved communities and reach people not often frequenting libraries.

Participants will learn which important questions to ask to seek feedback from the true experts: the members of the community being served. The audience will also gain insight into creating targeted campaigns with specific, community-driven content to maximize the effective delivery of message and efficient use of resources. Quality is valued over quantity, with importance of impact over mass production. Participants will understand how to become more purposeful through deliberate choices of audience, medium, delivery, and use of resources to create effective content that speaks directly to a unique community.
