Suzanne Flint

Flint developed a partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard University to design a program based on Brazelton’s Touchpoints, a developmental paradigm to understand growth stages in children while supporting parental mastery. During her time as a California State Library Programs Consultant (2005-2018), she created a robust program for librarians to become training facilitators throughout California based on Touchpoints, a nationally regarded system for families. Flint introduced the importance of play in California libraries for kids under 5 years of age, especially. This came about with partnership with Family Place, and developed into a statewide model and grant opportunity via the State Library. Flint’s state and national influence over time made a significant impact in the model of youth services for California libraries, in particular, to lead the way with innovative strategies that are now part of progressive library services models for families with small children.
