Harry Rowe (1921-2014)

Not only is Harry Rowe the longest continuous member of the California Library Association (CLA) (1947-2014), he also worked in numerous libraries during his 32-year career. These include public libraries in Coalinga (1948-52), Solano County (1952-57), Fullerton (1957-68), and Orange County (1968-79). He served on many CLA committees and was CLA president in 1966. Rowe also taught numerous classes and workshops and was lecturer at the University of Southern California’s library school. He was consultant for library programs in Norwalk and St. Helena, CA.

Although Rowe retired as a librarian in 1979, he remained active in his local community. He was a 60-year member of Kiwanis International and the District Historian. He was also co-founder of the Solano County Historical Society.
