California Library Advocacy Organizations Team Up to Offer Dual Membership
California Library Association offers dual membership with California Public Library Advocates
(Pasadena, CA) - Two premier statewide library advocacy organizations are offering a unique membership opportunity. By joining the California Library Association (CLA) as a supporting member, library support groups can also benefit from an annual membership in California Public Library Advocates (CPLA), both for a single $45 fee.
By joining CLA and CPLA during this membership drive, organizations will receive a discount to the conference and full access to the extraordinary resources on the CLA website.
To learn more and take advantage of this offer, visit cla-net.org and click on “Join.” You can register online via the CLA website
or by mailing CLA this form
. The offer expires on May 31, 2022.
“This is an opportunity for library champions to increase their effectiveness and their impact,” said Jené Brown, President of CLA and the Director of Emerging Technologies for Los Angeles Public Library. “CLA and CPLA share the goals of supporting library boards and commissions, library foundations, and Friends of the Library groups, who all play such important roles in the public library ecosystem.”
CLA is one of the largest library associations in the nation and works tirelessly to support and fund libraries in California, reaching out to legislators, providing education, and hosting its annual conference (this year in June in Sacramento).
CPLA’s mission is “Strengthening California Libraries through Advocacy and Education” and the organization is well known throughout the state for effective advocacy, informative workshops and webinars, and for its skillful advocacy on behalf of public libraries.
“We’re thrilled to join forces with CLA and share a message about the importance of libraries,” said CPLA board member Melinda Cervantes. “Join us and take advantage of the ability to connect with thousands of library staff and supporters all over the state. Learn how to get involved, align with your library’s strategic plan and make a difference.”
Friends groups, foundations, and elected or appointed boards and commissions can network at the CLA conference, learn from each other, and share their new insights with people in their communities. “This is an opportunity to be heard, to take your seat at the table,” Cervantes said.
Deborah Doyle, CPLA Past President added, “Both CLA and CPLA have unique insights and influence on how libraries are funded and supported. Library boosters who join will get valuable insights on the legislative process, board recruitment and development, and much more. We have so much knowledge we can share!”
