Programming Ideas and Resources

Welcome! This year’s summer reading theme, Paws to Read, celebrates all things animalia! With your iREAD resource guide and CLA's online tools we hope you’ll find endless programming possibilities to engage current patrons and attract new ones, of all ages. We also hope you will consider participating in CLA’s Paws to Give Statewide Collection Drive to benefit an animal welfare organization in your community.

A Paws to Read summer reading program is a great way to celebrate the joys of reading while providing endless opportunities for learning about the animal world and its interconnection with the human world. Additionally, your summer reading program will help children and teens retain and enhance their reading skills over the summer, provide a haven and a community for readers, and serve as a valuable outreach tool for your library. Young and old, animal lovers and readers are everywhere.

Let the dog days of summer begin. Paws to Read!
