Les Kong (ALA Chapter Councilor)

Les Kong has enjoyed 30+ years working as a librarian in the CSU, spending the last 20 years at CSU San Bernardino. He previously held positions as a business librarian, Head of Reference, and Head of Public Services. Besides his role as media librarian, he oversees Interlibrary Loan services, and serves as the subject specialist and collection development librarian for business administration at CSUSB.

Active in professional associations over the years, Les has held leadership roles as President of both CLA and CARL (California Academic & Research Libraries, the state chapter of ACRL). He is currently serving as the ALA Chapter Councilor (representing CLA), and the ACRL Chapters Council Delegate (representing CARL). He serves on the Board of Directors for both CLA and CARL. Additionally, Les has been active in providing service to WASC (Western Association of Senior Colleges), the regional accreditation body for colleges and universities. He served on the WASC Substantive Change Committee for 7 years, and has participated in accreditation visits for numerous institutions in the Western region.

Les stays fits with a morning running regimen, enjoys travel, and quirky independent films. He is a lifelong baseball fan, and thoroughly enjoyed the San Francisco Giants' run to the World Championship last year.
