Paula MacKinnon (Contra Costa County Library) and Matthew Mattson (Los Angeles Public Library) will share their experiences in developing web technologies for libraries. Paula will discuss her library's self-developed projects, including Discover & Go and enki, as well as their project to use Drupal and RWD to deliver web technology across platforms. Matthew will share his experience in using 3rd party vendors in conjunction with app and Drupal development, as well as plans to increase the library's ability to do a larger portion of development itself.

About the presenters

Paula MacKinnon is the Information Systems Project Manager for Contra Costa County Library and an information professional with 18 years of experience developing, managing and writing about usable, content-rich web services for public and special libraries. Her recent projects include library-conceived and developed products, Discover & Go, a downloadable museum pass platform for California libraries; Snap & Go, a smart phone application that uses QR codes to put library service literally, into the hands of commuters; and enki Library, a California ebook platform that makes ebook ownership a reality for libraries.

Matthew Mattson manages the Web & Emerging Technologies team of the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL), overseeing all of the Library's web technologies including Drupal, Web Sites, Apps and ILS modules. He has worked in Library IT for 27 years, 17 of them at LAPL.
