Courtney Saldana, previously the Young Adult Librarian at the Ovitt Family Community Library, has been promoted to the position of Youth Services Supervisor… Carmen Martinez, retired as Director of the Oakland Public Library in December 2012, after 12 years in the position. Associate Director, Gerry Garzon, will serve as Interim Library Director… Penny Peck has been elected to the San Lorenzo School Board… Marin County Free Library earned the Employee of the Month position for November 12. Anthony Puga, Circulation Supervisor at the Fairfax Branch, was honored at the Board of Supervisor’s meeting on December 11 and staff showed up en masse with signs to show their support!... Cen Campbell’s blog, LittleeLit, is now a consulting service as well as a resource for librarians who are incorporating digital media into storytimes. Starting in 2013, Cen will travel around the US and Canada developing workshops and webinars, and will write a book for ALA Editions on early literacy programming in the digital age… Melanee Vicedo, Social Work Librarian at the University of Southern California, has been selected to participate as a fellow in the Association of Research Libraries’ (ARL) Leadership and Career Development Program (LCDP). The LCDP is an 18 month fellowship program to prepare mid-career librarians from traditionally underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups to take on increasingly demanding leadership roles in ARL libraries… Meghan Kennedy has founded Epilepsy Education Everywhere, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising epilepsy awareness and education through speaking opportunities and community events. Her passion steps from personal experience as she was diagnosed with epilepsy in college.
