From the President: Voted, Yet?
Yes, the time for voting in this year's CLA election is winding down. Have you voted yet? If you have already done this, thank you very very much.
If not, why not? No doubt, you've received a postcard, numerous e-mails, and perhaps given it some thought.
Today, I invite you to do something for your fellow members and for your own membership - cast your vote!
Just before the election began, I asked Sue Negreen (thanks!) for the most recent statistics to let me know how many members typically cast a vote in the CLA election. Here's the answer:
| 2007 | 2006 | 2005 | 2004 | 2003 | 2002 | |
| Eligible Voters | 2125 | 2040 | 1990 | 1697 | 1731 | 1813 |
| # Who Voted | 695 | 742 | 770 | 726 | 716 | 769 |
| % of Membership | 33% | 36% | 39% | 43% | 41% | 42% |
Not a great turnout, to be sure. Only you know for sure if you voted - so please make sure that you do! there have been elections, almost annually, that were decided by only a vote or two.
I challenge all of you to use these final days as your opportunity to cast your vote in this important election. For more information, please visit the CLA 2008 Election web site. You will find information on how to log in, as well as ballots for all sections and information about the proposed Bylaws changes.
Thanks for voting!
