CLA Election Results Announced

CLA members approved sweeping bylaws changes in the recently concluded election. By a vote of 478 to 36, the changes were adopted and will go into effect on July 1, 2009. The bylaws require at least 10% of members vote and approve changes. Voter turnout in this election was 25%, down significantly from last year's 33% turnout.

Ken Haycock, Director of the San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science, was elected Vice President/President Elect, and Les Kong, Head of Public Services, CSU San Bernardino was elected ALA Chapter Councilor. They will take office on November 17, 2008 at the conclusion of the Annual Conference in San Jose.

The 2008 Nominations Committee was chaired by Margaret Todd. Many thanks to the Nominating Committee and to all our candidates.
