Upcoming Retirements Announced

Elaine Reed, Placer County Library Director, will be retiring, probably toward the end of June when her replacement comes on board. She is planning a move over to the Sonoma Coast to a cabin in the redwoods with a trailhead out the front door. She plans to do more hiking, gardening, reading, traveling, community service, and CLA activities.

Elaine has been the Director of the Placer County Library for thirteen years. Previously, she worked for the Riverside City-County Public Library as branch librarian at the Moreno Valley Library and the Palm Desert Library and for the Stanislaus Country Free Library as a children's librarian. She started her career at the Klamath County Library in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She will be honored for her service by the Board of Supervisors at their meeting June 14, 2005.

Richard Moore, Librarian for the Orange County Department of Education, has announced his retirement effective July 31. Richard is exploring the possibility of doing some consulting and plans to continue actively supporting the improvement of public school libraries.
