Dear CLA Members,

Please join CLA in saluting one of its most dedicated members, Gerald Maginnity. Yesterday, Governor Brown recognized Gerry's skills and hard work by appointing him California's Deputy State Librarian.

Gerry Maginnity has served in various California State Library positions since 2005, including bureau chief of library development services and most recently as California's acting state librarian. His previous experience in California includes Coordinator of the Sacramento-based Mountain Valley Library System, Associate County Librarian in Fresno, Vallejo Branch Head for Solano County Library, and work with the Serra Cooperative Library System and the Lassen County Library. He has also worked for libraries in Canada and Mexico. Gerry earned a Master's degree in library science from the University of Western Ontario and is also a member of La Asociacion de Bibliotecarios de Baja California and the American Library Association.

Gerry has been instrumental in the critical CENIC/CLA/State Library broadband effort over the last two years, among many other State Library initiatives designed to strengthen libraries throughout the state. We thank him for his passion for California libraries and look forward to more successes in the future!
