Paws to Read!

This summer 2014, CLA will provide libraries with summer reading resources in partnership with the Illinois Library Association’s (ILA) iREAD program. The summer 2014 theme is Paws to Read!

iREAD is a high-quality, pre-packaged summer reading program that is used by libraries in other states and internationally. Our new partnership offers the following benefits for California’s libraries: no membership fee for libraries; a one-slogan program; the inclusion of California’s summer reading outcomes materials in the resource guide; greater input from California into the development of the program; and the potential for CLA to develop a statewide summer reading program that is sustainable and not entirely dependent on grant funding.

As a coordinated, self-supporting effort between librarians, the ILA, and CLA, every purchase from iREAD supports library advocacy.
