Management Team Message
Registration for the 2013 conference opened in mid-June and we are seeing a steady stream of people taking advantage of the early bird prices! Have you registered? If you want that early bird pricing, don’t procrastinate too long – early bird pricing ends at 5 p.m. (Pacific time), August 30th!
We have lots of great programs and poster sessions planned. Here’s a sampling:
· California Writers Panel, presented by the California Center for the Book, featuring children’s authors and illustrators
· Keeping It Real About Going Green, featuring a panel of experienced facility managers from the County of Los Angeles Public Library
· Early Learning @ the Library, highlighting the State Library’s Early Leaning @ the Library Pinterest site
· From Youth Services to Library Management, featuring three library administrators who made that jump!
This is a tiny sampling of the 60+ programs and poster sessions that cover a wide variety of topics! You can view the preliminary program by going to http://conference.cla-net.org/new/inside-cla-2013/preliminary-program/!
And don’t forget our keynote speaker, Henry Rollins! You won’t want to miss his presentation scheduled for Monday morning.
If you are a CLA member, make plans to attend the annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday. We’ll have short presentations from President Wolfgram, Treasurer Flynn, and Vice-President Doyle. The featured speaker at the Membership Meeting will be Louis Fox, CEO of CENIC. He’ll talk about the ongoing efforts being spearheaded by CLA to connect California’s public libraries to the high-speed CENIC internet backbone.
Take a few minutes to register now! Don’t wait until 5:01 p.m. on Friday, August 31 because the registration fees will be much higher.
