Let’s Make Some Noise by Tooting Our Own Horns!

You’ve seen the announcements coming through—it’s time to submit your nominations for one (or more) of the various CLA awards! There are eleven different award categories, ranging from the CLA Member of the Year to the Zoia Horn Intellectual Freedom Award. Look around at your colleagues: is one of them deserving of an award?

Nominating someone is a wonderful way to acknowledge the great work that your colleagues do every day in providing library services to California residents. Has someone gone above and beyond in providing adult literacy services? Perhaps they are eligible for the Outstanding Librarian in Support of Literacy Award!

Do you know an up and coming librarian in the area of technical services who is already demonstrating leadership skills? Send in their name and why you think they should be awarded the CLA Technical Services New Leader Award!

Has your library put together a great campaign to promote your services or programs to your community? Gather up all the supporting documentation to send in! Perhaps your library will receive one of the PRExcellence Awards!

But don’t wait too long! The deadline for submitting all nominations is coming up fast: Friday, March 29, 2013 at 5 p.m. (Pacific time). For more information see!

Please remember: except for the John & Patricia Beatty Award, the California Young Reader Medal, Zoia Horn Intellectual Freedom Award, and the California Library Hall of Fame, all award recipients must be CLA members in good standing
