Welcome to California, Peter!…. Palo Alto City Library has made its statistical data available to the public via an Open Data platform recently implemented by the City. Users will learn how library funds are spent, what types of materials check out, and how many visitors the library sees this year… Glenn Scott and Dena Gould are receiving a great response to their survey as part of their research focusing on the informational needs of incarcerated youth. Librarians working with detained youth across the county have contributed to the success of Glenn and Dena’s effort… Erica Ann Watson graduated from San José State University in December and was promoted to librarian in January. She worked for Charter College, Long Beach campus, as a library coordinator, and on January 7th was promoted to librarian… Cindy Mediavilla’s article, “Carma Zimmerman Leigh and the Diffusion of Cooperation through California Libraries, 1951-1972,” has been included in a special issue of Information & Culture: A Journal of History (volume 48, number 1, 2013) devoted to the history of state libraries… Congratulations to Rancho Cucamonga Library Services, one of four California libraries and museums to be honored as 2013 National Medal for Museum and Library Service Finalists… Jolene Finn worked with the Visual Arts Department of Santa Margarita Catholic High School to hold the Third Annual Arts Show on January 31, 2013. Transforming the Borchard Library into an art gallery enabled patrons of the arts to merge with library patrons.
