Day in the District 2011
Please join CLA, the California School Library Association, and your fellow Library Advocates for Day in the District on Friday, January 28, Friday, February 4. Sign up Today!
Our Associations are scheduling visits with legislators in their local district offices throughout. These Day in the District meetings will provide a great opportunity to educate your legislators and their aides about the importance of libraries within their jurisdictions.
To schedule these visits, CSLA and CLA are together to supply legislative contacts for each legislator. Day in the District participants will be able to utilize the same database that has proven successful over the last several years. Tip sheets on how the scheduling system works as well as how to lobby your legislator are available on both the CLA and CSLA websites please see the box to the right for a list of documents.
Note: If a legislator is unable to meet on January 28 or February 4, our legislative contacts will set an alternative date. Any day is a good day to meet your legislator.
If you are interested in helping set up legislative meetings, please contact Kevin Kilkenny, CLA Legislative Coordinator, at 916-233-3298 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Remember: Day in the District is your opportunity to remind your legislators of the value of libraries—public, school, rural, urban, special, academic––their community. This year, we are focused on restoring library funding to the state budget.
