The first annual National Library Workers Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 20th. The theme for 2004 is: LIBRARIES WORK BECAUSE WE DO!
Library systems, managers, staff, patrons, and friends groups are encouraged by ALA-Allied Professional Association to make a special effort on this day of National Library Week to show their appreciation for the hard work and dedication of all library workers. For ideas, see the National Library Workers Day Web Site at http://www.ala-apa.org/nlwd/index.htm and http://www.ala-apa.org/nlwd/NLWDideas.html. Many of the ideas are submissions from workers across the country who celebrate one another's contributions to library service and operations on a regular basis.
This day coincides with National Pay Equity Day (National Committee on Pay Equity - http://www.pay-equity.org) and it is during National Volunteer Recognition Week (Points of Light - http://www.pointsoflight.org).
Have fun! Send me your stories about that day and photos!
